Destination Wedding Decor

In our previous article, we talked briefly about factors that can affect your budget. Decor is one of the most important determining factors when it comes to spending money on your event. So get ready to discuss some ways to fulfill all your decor dreams!

Color palettes

While neutral and monochromatic color palettes are always a gorgeous option for a tropical wedding, we are also seeing a push for more elaborate and colorful design trends. Depending on your location, another option is to opt for a more earthy palette which coincides with the popular bohemian decor style. While specific pantones can be featured each year, try to select a timeless design aesthetic that coincides with your personal style. When you look back on your wedding day twenty years from now you will not remember that it was the year of peach pantone, you will remember the feeling you had being immersed in your color palette.

Our CORAL Destination Bride Blake opted for a color palette of various shades of pink which went matched her earthy, boho vision.

Our CORAL Destination Wedding couple Nancy and Michael opted for linens and sand colors which stood out against their gorgeous beach background.

Our CORAL Destination Bride Caroline chose a vivid and unique color palette which matches her adventurous personality.

Our CORAL Destination bride Jamie chose traditional wedding lilac colours which were intensified by the beautiful matching flower arrangements.

Lighting, fireworks and illumination

Never underestimate the power of strategically suspended string lights! Whether you plan on having a more intimate gathering or you are trying to elevate the energy at your event, lighting can make or break your vision. Depending on your wedding venue it can also make or break your budget so when you are determining your venue, make sure to find out how dark it will be at the time of your event and what the lighting options are. If you’d like to push the envelope a little further you can ask for logistics and a quote on fireworks or even a fire-show!

Signage and party favours

Signage can be a key component in letting your guests know what to do, but it can also coincide with your overall decor vision. You may be someone who prefers to take a minimalistic approach with smaller more tactical signage (for example, directing guests where to sit or when to take their shoes off) or you may opt for the more dramatic option of large letters spelling out your word of choice (for example, LOVE or MEXICO). You may also wish to incorporate local artisan ornaments or guest favors into your wedding reception. It can be a tribute to the region and it helps guests to feel the energy of your selected destination. This could include small glassware or personalized maracas.

Flowers

The item that we see the largest discrepancy in use among wedding couples is flowers. Some destination wedding couples prefer a minimalistic approach. This could be for budget reasons and it could be due to the preference to let the scenery speak for itself. We also see very elaborate floral arrangements at some weddings. If you have a bold color palette, you may opt for a more striking floral arrangements and if you are having a boho style wedding, you may opt for neutral arrangements or pampas.
